Info on The Web's EdgeThis is an archive of all admin-posts, so a lot is out-o-date. It is in order by date, so just trust the stuff at the end.Modified: 1995 Nov 18
Try to think of The Web's Edge as a link to strange and wonderful things found
inside and out of the computer world. Provided as one of the many services of
UnderWorld Industries (UWI), this
site welcomes with open arms any ideas for experimenting with and expanding upon the
nebulous medium of telecommunications. Smalltime distributors of information, music, zines,
and art are found on this site, as well as all sorts of propaganda and information of
various usefulness. Sprinkled amongst this are various projects such as an online poetry-and-art
zine, as well as the usual montage of UWI publications, catalogs, and miscellanea. The best
place to start is the beginning -- back up to the main menu and enjoy!
Oh, by the way, UWI001 (and thus its net.resources) will be moving this
summer. For the whole scoop, check out Issue 2 of Dirt.
ON LINKS:
UWI realizes that currently about 50% of all WWW nodes' links point to other nodes!
While this makes for a fascinating math homework problem, it tends to makes the maze of the Internet and Web
just that much more convoluted. With the exception of the Reviews section (and the impossibly
wild Lamppost section, but that is meant to be outta control),
this site will point only to UWI-related or unique-to-this-site stuff. This may make
this a "small" site, but hopefully it will make your travels a little lighter.
Admins! Hey brotha, can you spare an ip address? Admin of a site you don't
know what to do with? Wanna make someone's day? Email UWI and talk some serious net.business then! (Translation: seeking ftp space.)
Construction: Lately (Sep 94), UWI has been
busy doing some major overhauls -- so expect to see all sorts of weird
stuff going on for a bit. Sorry all!
Hi-tech server stats: for those who really
care(?), the word from The Boss is that this thing gets hit about 50000
times a day -- makes about 5000 users, like you!
Context-sensitive help and unbibliography:
yessir, due to much Behind-the-Scene Magic[tm], the navigation bar
(the thing at the bottom) can now be clicked on for help relating
specifically to the page you are on. Also, you can find the
"unbibliography" of a single page
by clicking on the unbibliography icon in the navigation bar.
For scary details, click on the larger help icon ("?").
