ATCs (Artist Trading Cards)

ATCs are original works of art the size of a baseball card, which artists can trade or give away to other artists (or friends, or collaborators, or anyone) to share their art and connect with each other. All media are acceptable, and while sometimes themes are chosen for particular swaps or cards are tailored to recipients' interests, they depict just about everything. I made these for a "flower" themed swap:

...and these were made for a "game" themed swap.

This site - www.artist-trading-cards.ch - offers a more thorough explanation, as well as examples from all over the world. I was first introduced to ATCs through Nervousness.org.

The little guy above is probably my favorite card. He has such a terrible cold, but he's still so cheerful!

Over the past four years, I've probably made hundreds of these, but not only did I neglect to document many of them, a large chunk of my digital portfolio that did include some ATCs has been destroyed. If you have an ATC that I made (that's not pictured here), please let me know - I would love to have an image of it!
